The money impact has been fast and it’s spreading
We all knew that the non rev spirts would be impacted at some point. But it was a post on the wrestling board that really hit home for me yesterday.
A top VT recruit just decommitted and flipped to Penn State (who is the dominant national program). And they can offer amounts that VT can’t match.
Wrestling fans are very committed and love their sport. But even they were pulling back their interest because the money impact is just limiting everyone except the already rich programs.
College sports as a whole is, in my mind, now past the tipping point. They need to formally separate competition between P2 money levels and everyone else.
Sorry for not really offering any new info. Just had to rant for a min.

If I read correctly, they may institute athletic budget caps...

I'm expecting more schools to do what St. Francis (PA) decided to do
