Would Notre Dame agree to join The B1G in exchange for a seat in The AAU? If they thought the time was near, anyway, why not exploit the moment. Not sure when AAU will have another expansion vote. The media contracts line-up (almost) and The B1G has decisions to make in tight window. 1. Is Arizona State a beneficiary of the same scheme; large school, large market full of B1G alums, hockey program/facility? Perhaps this just moves them into position as a fall-back candidate. 2. Does AAU make South Florida a legitimate prospect for The B1G? She could be a companion school for either Miami or FSU, and certainly no less a stretch than Rutgers was at the time, though Tampa is not NYC. 3. Will Fox volunteer pro rata for Colorado & Arizona just to break the logjam? This deal would need to also bring-in Gonzaga and UConn hoops. Then The B1G could keep ASU for themselves by withholding further pro rata. So much back room negotiating happening in my imagination.
