would a network want to bid on an individual conference's contract instead of waiting to see what the contract for the pooled bid looks like? The other thing I am curious to see play out is when a conference wants to opt out of the pooled contract. Can a conference do that? Whether this bill goes anywhere or not, it could influence future bridge contracts to end at the same time. At least it isn't clear what will happen to existing contracts that end in 2036 or the 2040s once this bill becomes law and the DI schools approve the change. I don't think a conference could still honor existing contracts and honor the pooled contract because it could potentially create a conflict of interest, a conference being paid twice for the same content, or a conflict on which network(s) retain the rights when multiple contracts are in conflict with each other.
