The conferences being able to negotiate and their

own individual media contracts is what sunk the conferences. Add in NIL and paying players, the patchwork of different media deal may kill college athletics as we have known them. Imagine getting about $50M per year in conference distributions, and being unhappy about it. It's mind boggling. The schools have set the example for the kids - go with the highest bidder, and to hell with tradition, rivalries, education, ... etc. I'm afraid the schools have done it to themselves, and blaming the networks just seems convenient.
