The fans aren't the only factor in the discussion. As I noted in another

thread on this topic, player safety and level of risk (school liability associated with heat related deaths). Even you would agree that baseball players don't wear anything close to the amount of protective equipment that football players wear during games. Also, baseball players don't experience the same level of contact from other players that football players experience in practice or in games. For whatever reason you seem fixated on the games while ignoring the fact that football teams need some form of preseason practice to get ready for the games. MLB is lucky because it can do its Spring Training during the winter months. College football isn't so lucky unless you want to push back the start of preseason practice until after Labor Day and reduce the number of games teams play during the season. Remember the NCAA DI bylaws state the earliest a team can start its Fall Practice is 31 days before its first scheduled regular season game. I think the bylaws even limit the number of practices and the types of practices teams can have during those 31 days. NCAA DII, NCAA DIII, NAIA DI, NAIA DII, JUCO, even HS, and even the NFL have all established some sort of guidelines for when teams are allowed to start their Fall Practice. Right now, it is at the end of July or early August. If the start of the regular season gets moved up, then it will move the start of Fall Practice to either early July or mid-July. I doubt teams will be allowed to start Fall Practice before July 1 because that is the start of the NCAA's fiscal year and there could be all sorts of legal and logistical issues to start a sport's season in the previous fiscal year.

mrcaniac 01/02/26 09:57 PM ET

Stech 01/02/26 10:39 PM ET
They usually play them in Atlanta, New Orleans, Dallas, and Vegas
mrcaniac 01/03/26 12:04 AM ET
Why can’t they play some in those indoor MLB stadiums when the team is on
Stech 01/03/26 12:16 AM ET
Not all baseball stadiums can host football games
mrcaniac 01/03/26 12:27 AM ET
Agreed, but we would have way more options to play up north where weather

The key words.....

No hotter than ⚾️games, better than Fenway/Yankee Stadiums in December.

The statement.....

2hhoop3 01/02/26 11:37 PM ET
Got it, cancel Major League & LL Baseball in August, too hot for the fans.

I get that argument, I don't agree with it because practice is harder than
Stech 01/03/26 03:50 PM ET
Why do you assume players risk of dying only occurs during games? If you
VTHokie2000 01/03/26 06:47 PM ET
I said opposite, practices r harder than games, I don't get why u r asking
Stech 01/03/26 06:51 PM ET
Because you can't make Week 0 officially the new Week 1 without it
VTHokie2000 01/03/26 08:01 PM ET
Okay, we are not going to agree on this, one week change is already happens
Stech 01/03/26 08:18 PM ET
The reason the Week 0 games are played is because the participating schools

I understand your point of view, someone else will decide this, not us.**
Stech 01/03/26 09:42 PM ET
I don't disagree that the schools will ultimately decide whether to change
