(Consider Rutgers, Missouri, UCLA) Why do the media companies care about viewership? They actually focus on how to serve their advertisers. Fox has supposedly told the B1G that they want Miami because they like the ad demographic in South Florida. Northwestern and Vanderbilt (and now GA Tech) are pure gold to advertisers. North Carolina and Virginia are coveted by both The B1G and The SEC because one has historical significance and the other has worldwide name recognition as college FB prepares to go global. Pylons will disagree, but college administrators care about the academic image of their conference as a whole and how it reflects on each schools image. Realignment is far, far from over.
