The NCAA,....
that being the schools and their designated administrators, have shown who they are time and again through the years. Baker during the House litigation and the early part of his tenure has shown himself to be another feckless yes man as Executive Director rather than an actual agent for change.
The SEC and B1G both have some great programs and are deserving of merits but, both overestimate how much of their power and appeal comes from their conferences versus the rest of the schools and their followers tuning in just on the off chance they may go head to head at some point. A split likely diminishes that public interest and, correspondingly, their value to ESPN and FOX. That is even before discussing the basketball impact. The schools clearly on the outside looking in at the P2 and even those still angling for a spot, IMO, would be better served calling the P2 out and getting rid of Charlie Baker if he cannot demonstrate he is committed to being more than an errand boy for the P2.
