I am not assuming that ESPN is looking at it from the long-term. I do

think ESPN is looking at it from the short-term. If he is able to produce 9+ win seasons every year he is there, then ESPN may be hoping that the program is in a great place for the next HC. If UNC is able to afford him, then we may start seeing UNC make blueblood type football hires going forward.
