If academics meant that much, Utah and Colorado wouldn't be in the Big 12.

Stanford and Cal would be in the Big 10. And, Louisville and SMU wouldn't be in the ACC. I also still fail to understand your logic on the Big East. I don't see how there's any way the Big East factors into conference realignment at all, unless ND needs somewhere to park its basketball and non-revs. Basketball just has no value from a media rights standpoint. There's no money there to be had. 95+% of the value of college basketball is tied up in the NCAAT, which is "owned" by the NCAA and paid for by CBS and Turner. Regular season college basketball games on TV are worth next to nothing, maybe even less than nothing, outside the immediate context of UNC, Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky, and even those games don't really move the needle all that much outside the Duke vs. UNC games. Take all that into account, then combine it with the fact that UConn is the only Big East member with an FBS football program, and also that UConn football is terrible and nobody cares about it, and the Big East just isn't a factor. If you could explain to me like I'm five why you think the Big East is a factor at all in any of this, I'd love to be able to understand. ** Edited by Baltimore_Hokie at 9/19/2025, 3:03:50 PM
