Death penalty zapped interest from the Dallas non alums

There are so many other schools to root for in-state, most of the casual fans probably migrated away to A&M, UT and the like. Plus all the potential fans who were either kids in the 80s or born after have never had the chance to see SMU play any of the big boys other than the occasional non conference game. If the ACC manages to hold together as-is, I think SMU will get competitive rather quickly. Personally I'm way more excited over them joining than Cal and Stanford.
