Does Notre Dame wish to discontinue the tradition of the Legends Trophy?

I don’t see why ND wouldn’t be in favor of the ACC adding Stanford and Cal.

Should add Tulane (#23 preseason) and West Va.**
charlesf 08/07/23 05:01 PM ET
Wouldn't be opposed to that. Tulane is in a state that loves football.
HokiePail 08/07/23 06:01 PM ET
Tulane doesn't bring extra $ and B12 schools have a GOR until 2030**
BROman Hokie 08/07/23 05:59 PM ET
Tulane is not in the B12, and they would be a good addition
Big12 guy 08/07/23 07:51 PM ET
Was talking about WVU re: B12, and I agree about Tulane…

I think it only applies for states adopting massive book bans.**

Only if Stanford brings Notre Dame along, otherwise bad idea.
wwhokie1 08/07/23 04:40 PM ET
Seems like you'd have to also take OSU and WSU as part of this.
LonghornHokie 08/07/23 04:48 PM ET
Have UA, ASU, and Utah signed anything yet? Take those three and WVU and
vatechcowpatty 08/07/23 06:26 PM ET
Arizona stays, sorry. **
Big12 guy 08/07/23 07:52 PM ET
Ok, so somehow you know the other 3 are headed to the ACC?**
vatechcowpatty 08/07/23 08:01 PM ET
No, I'm saying you had a chance at Arizona, 2 chances at WVU, and they
Big12 guy 08/07/23 08:45 PM ET
Agree, and San Diego State too.**
Stech 08/07/23 05:03 PM ET
I was thinking Nevada or UNLV, but SD State works too.
HOO86 08/07/23 05:15 PM ET
This is an ESPN push in my opinion. They want/need presence on west coast.
Lakeridgehokie 08/07/23 04:39 PM ET
ESPN had offered the PAC10 $100 million per year
HOO86 08/07/23 05:09 PM ET
Every Saturday night either Stanford or Cal will be hosting a football

Probably So.

I read any further expansion by ACC...

Maybe Oregon and Washington wanted nothing to do with the ACC.**

They didn't. They knew B10 was at least 75-80% chance of happening.
LonghornHokie 08/07/23 04:52 PM ET
But they're accepting a fraction of B1G revenue. **
neworleanshoo 08/07/23 06:56 PM ET

Stanford is 40, Cal 47 in this metric.**

Currently, Stanford is not on ND's schedule after 2026.**

Does Notre Dame wish to discontinue the tradition of the Legends Trophy?
Hardcore_Hokie 08/07/23 04:53 PM ET
I don't think ND has a preference one way or the other
TerryD 08/07/23 04:57 PM ET
Why would anything be "locked in"?
Pylons 08/07/23 04:12 PM ET
Notre Dame coming to two more ACC stadiums is a big deal. $$$
Hardcore_Hokie 08/07/23 04:25 PM ET
How is ND playing at Stanford $$$ for the ACC?
Pylons 08/07/23 04:38 PM ET
Stanford/Cal in ACC = home games on ABC/ESPN
mrcaniac 08/07/23 05:10 PM ET
That's not necessarily more ND games in ACC stadiums
Pylons 08/07/23 05:16 PM ET
That is what I expect to happen if Stanford joins
TerryD 08/07/23 05:19 PM ET
If Stanford comes to the ACC and ND is in an ACC partnership…

Appreciate you recognizing that. 😂**

Wonder how the calls to FSU will go? 🤣
Maroon Baboon 08/07/23 03:39 PM ET
It only takes 12 votes to add schools to the ACC, so FSU doesn't matter.**
tarheelblue 08/07/23 03:58 PM ET
yup. FSU picked a bad time to throw a tantrum.**
daveinop 08/07/23 04:10 PM ET
Stanford reportedly linked to the ACC**

EDGEMAN 08/07/23 03:37 PM ET
BC and Cuse are 1,500 miles from Miami and FSU
Hardcore_Hokie 08/07/23 04:17 PM ET
That's 1,000 mi closer and the rest of the conference is in between**
wwhokie1 08/07/23 04:37 PM ET
If the two schools were USC & UCLA then yes. Stanford & Cal then no, no, no
WBGV 08/07/23 04:01 PM ET
Or ESPN is making it worthwhile for the ACC $$$ wise**
BROman Hokie 08/07/23 03:43 PM ET
Would getting the ACCN into California pay for this?**
Maroon Baboon 08/07/23 03:50 PM ET
Pitt vs. Cal on the ACCN at 10:30PM Eastern Time - don’t think so.**
WBGV 08/07/23 04:43 PM ET
That wasn't the basis of my question. I'm talking about subscriptions. **
Maroon Baboon 08/07/23 05:09 PM ET
All that matters is that it airs, it doesn't matter whether anyone watches**
BROman Hokie 08/07/23 04:58 PM ET
my thoughts as well**
daveinop 08/07/23 04:16 PM ET
Probably close to it, California has over 30 million cable/satellite subs**
BROman Hokie 08/07/23 03:57 PM ET
Yeah the math actually might work for ESPN to want this to happen.**
tarheelblue 08/07/23 03:59 PM ET
Does the B1G?**
JKHokie-RunFor32 08/07/23 03:40 PM ET
It's the right move, and the ACC should consider UConn, USF, and others as
Big12 guy 08/07/23 03:39 PM ET
does uconn even play div I football?**
rmhokie 08/07/23 07:12 PM ET
They would probably beat KU. **
Big12 guy 08/07/23 08:46 PM ET
ACC already has 2 Florida schools. USF doesn't really add anything.**
tarheelblue 08/07/23 04:00 PM ET
Can you hang on to FSU? Look out a few years. **
Big12 guy 08/07/23 04:11 PM ET
If FSU leaves, then you think about adding USF. Not before.**
tarheelblue 08/07/23 04:20 PM ET
IMHO, that is why the ACC may not survive. UCF, Cincy, and
Big12 guy 08/07/23 04:25 PM ET
Adding those 3 schools would have lowered the per team money in the ACC
tarheelblue 08/07/23 04:31 PM ET
ESPN thought it was worth the addition, based on the contract
