You're right.....

it is his money and he can do what he wants with it. The group includes guys that made their own money, as well as some I am sure who were born into it. I doubt any of those guys are doing it just so they can say "they financed a football program", but, they could have many motives, some more altruistic than others. Perhaps you should reread the article a little bit closer as Miller, who was a scholarship basketball player, has been repaying his free education for a lot longer than recent times and in an amount to date, $100M estimated broken down $75M and $25M academics and athletics per the article. You say you have no idea, again I would suggest you reread the article in more depth, your contention of a fool and his money being soon parted and just financing a program seems far less likely than a group of individuals putting their money where their mouth is to support a school they believe in, a mission that likely comes with a far less tangible ROI.

HokieAl 09/07/23 03:35 PM ET
Funny how there is criticism of them buying their way into the ACC
mrcaniac 09/07/23 02:09 PM ET
You guys would be roasting the Big 12 if they made a deal like this
Millpoint 09/07/23 03:41 PM ET
No different than what the Big 12 and Big 10 are doing.
mrcaniac 09/07/23 05:35 PM ET
But not for nine years
Millpoint 09/07/23 06:32 PM ET
The thing is we didn't want them, but they begged and pleaded, and offered

IB4TECH 09/07/23 10:44 AM ET
They had started to talk to the Arizona Schools, but way too late.

If FSU leaves, then UConn probably get the call up from the ACC
tarheelblue 09/07/23 11:26 AM ET
UConn, Tulane, Memphis, and USF are the standbys, IMO.
Truthahn 09/07/23 01:59 PM ET
Yes that would be the list East of the Mississippi
HOO86 09/07/23 04:21 PM ET
"IF" FSU leaves, it will be interesting to see which direction the ACC...
