not here but, it is a joke, potentially a very bad joke. Do you even understand what these deals entail? They are nothing more than a fancily named loan and the touted ancillary operational and marketing excellence the firms bring to the table are in reality their chance to monitor, control and influence their lending arrangement. Have you seen anywhere the cost of capital assigned to the Utah deal? I have not. However, VC capital comes with premium pricing and terms and those guys rarely get left holding the bag. If Utah had no leverage or even thin leverage, that even raises more questions as to the purpose and use of the funding. To say I am skeptical of the wisdom of soliciting VC funding is accurate and were I on the board or a supporter of any institution, school or conference, evaluating that type of alternative my first three questions would be (1)what is the need/purpose and projected use of the funding?(2)what is the fully loaded cost of capital for the funding? and (3) what is the timing and expected sources of funding for the repayment? I expect I would have more questions depending on deal specifics but, I know I would have those three on every deal.
