That was the conferences assets, as they kept the conference in place.

Those that left did not pay any exit fees, GOR money, or any penalty, other than walking from the conferences assets. When USC and UCLA left, it was a clean break, with no compensation to the schools or conference they left behind. Texas an OU, if their departure had not been leaked, would have done the same. They (ESPN) paid to get out one year early. If they had played one more season, they would not have had to pay anything. Exit fees are different, as I think we are talking the media rights here.
