everyone thought it would go. The P2 want control of governance, power to control playoff access and the lion's share of the money. To achieve those goals they will share just enough control, access, and money to get the votes and what they want while fending off antitrust allegations, investigations and government involvement. Nobody knows what the final result will look like. There are too many constituencies involved and that is BEFORE what is likely federal and state government involvement at some point. I think there are likely to have already been and inevitably will be more miscalculations in pushback from stakeholders. I also believe the biggest miscalculation is that a scaled down upper division that essentially represents a minor league enterprise will retain or increase the sport's popularity(i.e., money) or that a break off will actually enjoy the benefits as an associate that they currently have in the present form. I am sad to see the sport upended and my hope is that the parties responsible go down as well.
