They will go for growing the revenue pie over protecting the conference

champions. A home game in one of the top SEC or BIG universities is worth what to the home team? A regular season home game is worth more than $6M to the athletic department, what could they charge for a playoff game? When you add in the revenue for the local economy, the numbers start to get mind boggling - but lets keep it to the revenue for the athletic department. In addition to the media revenue, for some of the blue bloods, they would get revenue that they do not have to share that approaches maybe $10M. Ya, I think they will go for the home game over the bye.
