Matchups and markets are not mutually exclusive.
If this was solely about TV DMAs, why aren't BC, Cal, SMU, Temple, and USF getting a phone call? Those are some enormous markets. By the same token, why aren't perennial powers like Oregon and VT getting a phone call?
There are many factors, but if I had to name the one that matters most it's the ability to generate revenue. For all of our great attributes, we are not making money commensurate with our ability to compete on the field/court. Our profitability is great, but no one cares about that.
