ND schedules these games years in advance. If you look in the

past, and in the future, the non ACC schools they schedule are much tougher than any OOC schedule that any ACC scool schedules. If they had Indiana on their schedule instead of Purdue, it certainly would not have been a cup cake game this year. In 2027, they have Michigan State and Auburn. In 28, they have Texas and Auburn. All those schools have been, and could be national championship caliber teams. They play Navy every year, and that could be considered a cupcake, but I think most would give ND a pass on that one. It's my contention, that it's the ACC games that ND schedules that are the cupcakes.
