I think you're right......
and simply stated if you know who the damaged parties are in the back pay AND you know where they played AND you know the actual formula to calculate the actual individual damages then it should be straightforward to assign settlement damages to the parties responsible for those damages. To put it in even simpler terms the Big boys pawned off in round figures $840MM of their liability on the little guys without so much as a heads up. Mind you that is even before talking about differences that might arise from sport specific allocation.
The NCAA comes off looking slimier than ever in terms of favoring one segment of their membership over another. I suspect that as more details come out so will more questionable actions. I also expect there are some lawyers getting ready to potentially collect more fees. I hope the parties(schools, administrators, etc.) involved in negotiating this scam of a settlement get exposed and held to account and, yes, I realize I MIGHT be advocating for an outcome that could have varied consequences for VT. I used to believe the scumbags at the NCAA were the biggest part of the problem but, the old adage we have met the enemy and it is us is playing louder and louder. The next act, for which we have already been given a preview, is the B1G and SEC doing to the ACC and Big 12 the same thing the four of them are now doing to the 28 smaller D-1 conferences.
