Miami is handling it the right way

First the president is also on the executive board of directors (along with the President of UVA and VT president. They really just can't walk out. Their terms expire in May 2024 after the spring meetings. Second, Miami, has the resources....and can compete short term. I think VT UVA, NC NC State and Miami have a very similar approach. no Drama. (however, UNC Board of Trustees have some lay people recently on the board who want to run their mouth, instead of working behind the scenes. (NO DRAMA is better.
