eyeballs, and there is a reason the number of bowl games increased over the years. What I think will happen, is that the city hosting the larger bowl games will start to pay the players NIL money, or prize money. I say this because of the recent regular season basketball tournament in Vegas that did just that, and the post season basketball tournament that does the same thing for team left out of the dance. Evidently, the extra practices and the ability to give the bench playing time in a real game isn't enough incentive anymore. I also know first hand, that the lower bowls barely pay enough to cover expenses of the G schools playing in them - but it does give them exposure that they would not normally receive. You are right however, the current system with the expanded playoffs, the portal, and the endless changing in coaches is obsolete.
