Yes, imagine a world where

There were independents like, say, Notre Dame, Penn State, Florida State, Miami, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Pitt, Louisville, Syracuse and a few tomato cans like Temple, Rutgers and Boston College.
