Lifetime

Yeah using the population model like the B1G has done recently, GT & Miami

would fit that the most of any ACC school. It makes me wonder if the magnificent 7 were thinking about the SEC and not the B1G, like some have implied. As you said in another post, GT is not a topic of conversation in Georgia. I could see the SEC liking to have Oklahoma State as number 24 to get Bedlam games and other natural rivalries in other sports. Oklahoma State has an incredible golf program, and the SEC loves golf.

Why wasn't it the magnificent 8 with Georgia Tech? Why were they not a part
Stech 05/18/23 10:25 AM ET
But for attendance and TV viewership, GT would be a perfect B10 school
LeadingEdge 05/19/23 10:10 AM ET
And undergrad enrollment of just 17k. Nobody in ACC really fits in the B1G.
marcbvtgm 05/24/23 04:28 PM ET
Yep on size
LeadingEdge 05/24/23 04:47 PM ET
Unfortunately, GT will never be able to recapture the glory days
I85Hokie 05/19/23 08:12 AM ET
IMO GT and Pitt should be part of the breakaway conference. Along with WVu
ZekeVT 05/18/23 11:31 PM ET
Yes, especially if we plan to bring in WVU eventually.
Truthahn 05/19/23 11:30 AM ET
i think Gt didnt participate due to extreme reoource limitations
Mercury 05/18/23 02:20 PM ET
If the real goal is unequal revenue sharing, maybe GT doesn't want that.**
wwhokie1 05/18/23 12:45 PM ET
That would make sense, as some have posted they aren’t investing much in
Stech 05/18/23 12:47 PM ET
GT seems to have deprioritized sports
HokieAl 05/18/23 12:44 PM ET
I wonder if GT admins don't desire the future of college athletics**
MrFantastic! 05/18/23 12:43 PM ET
Easy. GT is in direct competition with the SEC flagship, UGA
VT ChemE 1986 05/18/23 12:42 PM ET
GT leadership in regards to academics, they kill UGA
Mercury 05/18/23 04:21 PM ET
And GT is a fairly small school as far as public universities go
I85Hokie 05/19/23 08:20 AM ET
It’s all blowing smoke anyway. IF acc busts up - VT is Big12 or left out
3TechFanz 05/18/23 11:23 AM ET
Good Grief, how did you
ancient alien 2018 05/19/23 02:32 AM ET
VT would rather be an independent than big 12
Mercury 05/18/23 04:23 PM ET
Going through this in the Big12 - the fans don't get a vote unfortunately
Big12 guy 05/19/23 08:11 AM ET
BS, I can tell u right now B1G would LOVE to add VT and UVA
ombandit 05/18/23 11:59 AM ET
I think of the 4 you list, only UNC is on their list right now.**
reestuart 05/18/23 02:06 PM ET
Highly doubtful**
CrystalCoveHokie 05/18/23 12:25 PM ET
The B1G didn't add Oregon and Washington, which are comparable to UVA & VT**
tarheelblue 05/18/23 12:22 PM ET
Oregon + Nike didn’t make big10. VT will? No **
3TechFanz 05/18/23 12:31 PM ET
Just curious, where do you get your info. from? Certainly not from any
ancient alien 2018 05/19/23 02:35 AM ET
OR and WA are stuck. There was no need to grab them yet
HokieAl 05/18/23 12:50 PM ET
UVA and VT won't be available until 2036.**
tarheelblue 05/19/23 08:17 PM ET
Yes, you get it!**
ombandit 05/18/23 07:10 PM ET
Yes, but two things.
LonghornHokie 05/18/23 03:31 PM ET
I’m sure that the B12 is interested in UVA/VT
CrystalCoveHokie 05/18/23 01:00 PM ET
To heck with 4 corners. Big 12 should target 4 Coastals
obguthr 05/18/23 04:28 PM ET
I would think that OR/Wash are more valuable to B1G**
CrystalCoveHokie 05/18/23 12:31 PM ET
Absolutely. Especially since they now have USC & UCLA.**
reestuart 05/18/23 02:01 PM ET
They are. I was trying to be generous. **
tarheelblue 05/18/23 12:38 PM ET
It makes far more sense for B1G to expand west than east or south…..
CrystalCoveHokie 05/18/23 12:52 PM ET
Yes having USC & UCLA out on an island isn't healthy for the B1G conference
tarheelblue 05/18/23 03:16 PM ET
What about pSU getting some more friends on east **
MrFantastic! 05/18/23 01:24 PM ET
Penn State is a Midwest school much more than an east coast school**
Vienna_Hokie 05/18/23 07:54 PM ET
They already have MD, Ruts, plus Ohio State, Mich and MSU are in the ETZ.
RoswellGAHokie 05/18/23 02:25 PM ET
Indiana is East, as is Perdue**
Vienna_Hokie 05/18/23 07:57 PM ET
I would think that’s an afterthought **
CrystalCoveHokie 05/18/23 02:14 PM ET
I think adding VT/UVa would only be a PITA for PSU. I imagine they love
reestuart 05/18/23 02:05 PM ET
Kids would still go there **
MrFantastic! 05/19/23 09:47 AM ET
I thought the same thing.
Old Line Hokie 05/18/23 11:15 AM ET
Yeah using the population model like the B1G has done recently, GT & Miami
Stech 05/18/23 12:43 PM ET
Odd indeed, as the BIG would love to get into Atlanta. I would
manassashoo 05/18/23 10:36 AM ET
That would be bad optics. GT isn’t even an afterthought in GA
RoswellGAHokie 05/18/23 11:17 AM ET
The only tweet that I saw that said Loserville was #8 was Greg Swaim
Millpoint 05/18/23 11:04 AM ET
Wasn't the news on Louisville inferring they were looking at the Big 12?**
Stech 05/18/23 11:07 AM ET
His tweet as well. **
Millpoint 05/18/23 06:41 PM ET
It's interesting that, that one was so specific, the Mag 7 wreaked of SEC
Stech 05/18/23 08:06 PM ET
