I don't think it will be arranged that way.

First, the SEC and the B1G aren't going to go to or even stop at 20 just to fit neatly into a CFP model that could easily change after every contract. They will expand or not expand based on MONEY. And 20 isn't a magic number. Second, with 5-team divisions getting an automatic bid, theoretically, a team could go 4-8 and make the playoff. And by the way, how would conference championship games figure into all of this for the P2? I could do without CCGs myself, but the TV and conference execs don't want to give them up. And further, what will the CFP do to award conference champs in a 16-team playoff where byes are no longer available. BTW, the 4-4-2-2-1-3 and the 5-11 are both garbage, at least in the framework of the current proposals.

We will eventually end up with a 4–4 – 2–2 – whatever scenario.

P2 won't go to 20. Only one school available that will bring the existing

This "new" development has not played out yet. We only have one year as a

I think we end up with a ratings based model

Let's make the P2 really mad and do a 10-6 model.

Based on this argument, which I don't necessarily disagree with the logic,

As the P2s continue consolidating top tier teams, there will come a point

No conference championship games. And your second point is incorrect
hokieZ71 06/06/25 11:00 AM ET
My point isn't incorrect. It's just highly unlikely. And I concede that.

If and when the P2's have 20 teams each, then there is

Yeah, definitely won't be a 4-4-4.

I'm not making it a Big12 vs ACC thing. The Big 12 and ACC are equals.

Except the ACC makes more money, sends more schools to CFP, and has own TV**

It's wishful thinking that the P2 will surrender any money or power...
