Crickets, many think this is ND proposed Rudy project, with 70 schools,
and of course would include both Virginia Tech and West Virginia. The SEC and B1G are vehemently opposed even though they would reportedly make more money, because they are in control now. That’s why the B1G had 4 PE firms present what many believe is their version of the counter case to do it and create their own Super Conference version. It’s also why the SEC has partnered with Goldman Sachs to come up with their version. One of the most significant things that was in the Ross Dellenger article is it sounds like the ACC and B12 are cooperating, but the SEC and B1G not so much lately. Of course that can change in an instant on both sides.
One other tidbit, Saban (Mr. 30-32 team super conference) has withdrawn from the Presidential committee at least for now, but Cody Campbell from Texas Tech is still on, and the lead, he of course would much prefer the 70 schools over the 30-32 model. I also think you would get more politicians behind this if you get more schools.
PS The speculation that the ACC and B12 Commissioners were not on the call, is that (get ready for this one) the Conferences would go away. Everyone is part of the same TV contract like the NFL, and scheduling would be done mainly regionally to bring back more geographical rivalries. So haha Notre Dame can still technically say they’re independent. Hey what did you expect from the Rudy Project!?!? 🤣🤣
