A couple of random thoughts on all of this have been strolling thru my head

1. I don’t like that schools have mandatory athletic fees for students while at the same time they have athletes making tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. I know they justify it as overall funds for the athletic dept, but clearly there is plenty of money to go around already. Stop taking so much from the students and parents paying for the academic school. 2. Would an optional pension plan be possible to reduce spending each year at a school while still guaranteeing payouts (plus growth) at some future date for athletes who opt in? There could even be a conference level version of this to encourage players to stay in the ACC. 3. NIL will never be under control unless players become employees. It is too much of a vague concept with variations across states. The only way to stop the current version of madness is for the money to be invested elsewhere and big donors to choose not to fund NIL at the current levels. Legally, NIL is unfixable. This commission will not solve anything because the NCAA has no power anymore and a government solution likely doesn’t have the authority to be implemented.
