Does UVA/VT get anything from sports betting?
I doubt it since you cannot bet on state universities if you are in the state of Virginia (NC allows it).
Out of curiosity, can schools outside a state say they don't want people to bet on their games, i.e. can VT tell the state of NC that they don't want people betting on their sports teams - would VT or state of VA have any pull to make that happen (I highly doubt that).
This is a bad look on NC since they are still trying to get help from hurricane damage and other flooding. I also read (not sure how true) that NC taxes only winnings and can't claim losses. Thus, if you had received a free deposit/play bonus of $200, and over time you win $5000, but you lose $5200 (net of $0) that you still get taxed on the $5000. No wonder they have that amount of $$$ to give to them.
