Mr. Kafka's cynical sarcasm may betray a bias on this subject.
I would not dispute his statistics, but reports of cable's death are premature. As long as the cable companies have infrastructure in the ground for the delivery of internet, they will try to maximize those assets for other purposes, including cable TV bundles.
Streaming services are not making money. I suppose, like the early years of cellphones, the carriers are keeping prices down in a fight for market share. Darwinian savagery will eventually produce the few survivors. But there are soooo many competitors popping up, the price war could go on for a long time. This helps cable remain afloat for who knows how long.
Carriers will seek the "perfect" bundle (which likely doesn't exist). And they need to accept the reality of seasonal fluctuations; zillions of industries do.
I read Peter Kafka's bio on Vox. He clearly wrote it himself; same style: Kafkaesque.
