The ACC could be negotiating an increase. Based on what the B12
got BEFORE the PAC imploded, I would not be surprised if the ACC, even without FSU and Clemson, emerge with a very competitive package. Either the rights to these games are undervalued, or they are paying too much, and won't get an ROI. We will find out where the ACC stands soon enough.
Keep in mind, the consolidation of the blue bloods will bring in some very intriguing matchups the next few years, but those matchups become just another conference game over time. There is no way we will have an undefeated Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, and say a one loss Tennessee, LSU, or Auburn moving forward. Simple math says that 1/2 of the SEC will have a losing conference record, and the same can be said for the Big 10.
Ranked teams and playoff contenders from the ACC, B12, and the G5 will get good television spots as this unfolds. A 5-4 Michigan and a 6-3 USC will not bring national attention, but a 12th ranked one loss VT against an undefeated Miami will. The same for a 1 loss BYU against an undefeated KU.
ESPN and FOX NEED the ACC and B12 to be relevant. The G5 as well. There are just too many regional and school specific fans out there to dismiss them - In my opinion, you will get national ratings when you compete for a playoff spot, and watch out when a non P2 team wins the thing.
