In some cases, monopolies can even be a good thing because it can keep cost low (or lower) for consumers. On the surface, this may not be one of those cases. However, if the media companies are really pulling the strings behind the scene for the various organizations (i.e. NCAA, College Football Playoff, LLC, etc.) involved here, then it is possible consumers could be indirectly involved when you start to look at how a college athletic monopoly impacts consumer subscription costs regardless whether you are talking cable, satellite, or streaming service.
