It’s highly unlikely that any conference is going past 20 members

as the laws of diminishing returns start to kick in. Conferences can’t just continually add schools and expect the networks to pay higher and higher amounts per school. The B1G will probably add FSU when they become available and wait on Notre Dame. The SEC doesn’t even want to expand at this time, but would take a team from Virginia and North Carolina if they became available ( new markets and in the conference’s southeast footprint ). IMO the SEC and B1G aren’t going to take 2 schools from the same state unless it is the size of California or Florida because it would be challenging to get the networks to pay for them long term. VT is the better football brand in Virginia so that works in it’s favor. Conferences will just wait to see who becomes available after the FSU case is litigated and before 2027 when the ESPN contract with the ACC has the possibility of ending. It feels eerily similar to what was going on in the PAC-12 the last two years - lawsuits, Board of Governors or Trustees meetings being tracked, secret meetings between members behind the commissioner’s back, rumors everywhere, and a conference wide sense of instability and doom. ** Edited by WBGV at 12/29/2023, 1:39:59 PM

They already have 2 Cali schools. I'd add 2 from Utah, Colorado, or Arizona**

I thought from the start that Utah/Colorado would be naturals. If not,

Good point on Arizona and it is the 14th largest state.

Yep. Locking down 3 separate national networks was a brilliant move.**

I'm kinda surprised no one has touched the AZ schools.

ESPN pushed and demanded Cal and Stanford to the ACC for some reason

Getting the instate carriage fees for the ACCN in Cali made financial sense**

They had their chance to do that for almost nothing and didn’t do it.

Timing was not right to go that big at the time. **

They basically went for free, I don’t see it happening, I think the B1G has

If it were financially attractive for the BIG to add Cal and Stanford

I don't think it made sense to add them yet and that is why they didn't.
