They say there are 2 types of houses here. Ones that have termites and ones
that WILL have termites. So, my daughter is telling me there are termites flying around, and I'm making calls. Tenting costs $1500 for my tiny little house, and the guy I called says he is doing 40 a day right now (it's supposedly termite season, whatever that is). So 60k a day MINIMUM in revenue. If he picks it up a bit, I'm thinking this guy could eventually be lounge material.

Wait until you find out he's also a termite farmer.

You could always build a cement dome house, and never worry about...
...termites, fire, or hurricanes again.

Termite fear is a racket.

But if you bought a home and didn't know they were there, wouldn't you be
pissed to find out? Especially if the seller had 'overlooked' telling you?

Haha, no. Not here. They drop frass and you can see them flying around in
the house. There is easy evidence for anyone to know you have them.

Sure, they’re flying around. They’re ever present, but that doesn’t mean
they have access to your home. If you have moisture issues, you’ll have them. But a properly constructed home/crawlspace will have no issues. Read once, New Orleans and Hampton Roads are the top spots for termites in US. The humidity and moisture.

Gaston County NC sez 'hold my frass'.

I think you only have subterranean termites there. The drywood termites
here don't even need moisture. And when the frass is inside your house, and they are flying around inside your house, you can pretty much guarantee they are eating your house, haha. Also, I would bet Florida leads the world in termite damage in the billions per year. We have most favored state status for all bugs, really.

We've got the subterranean homesick blues.

From what I understand that treatment or pumping in the Vikane will only
kill what is in the house during the treatment process but if they swarm again 2 days later your out of luck. The Bora-Care treatment of attic and crawl space may run double or triple but is a more permanent solution.

And more importantly, the treatment company will be on the line for ever-
more that you’ll never have issues down the road.

Yea, I think I need to do some research. I thought we only had dry wood
termites here, but of course, we are blessed with several varieties, and tenting doesn't work on one of them, according to the guy on the phone. You may be on to something.
