ESPN reporting he was testing in a simulator in Concord Wednesday...
...and "became unresponsive". Very weird...

This is from the Hoo board:
I heard from a reliable source that it was pneumonia. He passed out this morning and was resuscitated twice. One of our drivers, the thirteen year old, is racing in Hickory today. He’s buddy’s with Brexton, Kyle’s son, and was there this morning with him.

One of the kids in my daughter's class races with his son
But she doesn't talk to him so I don't have anything to add to what you posted. Word does get around school pretty quick though for anything out of the ordinary so I'm curious if she does hear anything. Actually it's the mom group chats that will probably get more details. It's tough seeing in-shape well cared for people who are younger than me that just suddenly pass away. Happened to my younger daughter's swim coach last year.

Terrible for his family, obviously….
… but also terrible for NASCAR… he was one of the few drivers who reminded me of the old guard… the sport will be less interesting without Rowdy Kyle Busch and his driving and bold commentary…. RIP.

Once his family and friends have had a chance to mourn his loss, there will
be an opportunity for his foundation to bring attention to the illness. Love him or hate him, more people will listen to the message because of who he was as a driver.

Twitter rumor a burst appendix
VTHokie2000 VTHokie2000

My late father was principal at a HS in VA where the star QB had his
appendix rupture. He either missed or ignored the warning signs because he continued to practice or play in the game (I forget which) until it was too late. If the rumor is true, then hopefully that wasn't the case with Kyle.

He must not have gone to the hospital afterwards.

Depending on the cause, he may not have realized that's what happened

Heard you feel better immediately after it bursts.

I heard that too and you might think it was a case of indigestion. That is
it would depend on what triggered it.

In the other hand, this is still an X rumor, unsourced.

Hence why I qualified my response to OX's post because I do know of 1
example where someone did die from their appendix rupturing and it wasn't caught in time. I was being lazy and piggybacking off the qualifier from that post in my responses to Edge because these were all after the response to OX. For the record, illnesses involving the heart and brain did cross my mind as potentially likely candidates too.

I know. It's just that these threads get catapulted into flights of fancy.
In the end, in serious situations like this one, when the real COD is revealed (if it will be), it will prove disappointing to those who preferred the rumor. Next thing you know, those same people will be alleging a coverup.

Undisclosed but whatever it was took him down in a day.
Helluva record: (NASCAR) “Busch was in his 22nd full-time season in NASCAR’s top division, where he won two Cup Series titles (2015, 2019) and 63 races — a figure that ranks ninth on the circuit’s all-time win list. His numbers across the other two national NASCAR series are record-setting, with 102 victories in what is now called the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and 69 wins in the Craftsman Truck Series.” ** Edited by PhotoHokieNC at 5/21/2026, 6:54:02 PM

He had been ill for a couple weeks, apparently
I read he called for a NASCAR doctor during the race two weeks ago and had been dealing with some severe respiratory symptoms for a while. ** Edited by JoesterVT at 5/21/2026, 8:31:47 PM
