but on a serious note, you see all these grate songs here and wonder how anyone cannot say they are one of the greatest bands of all times if not the greatest (rock) band of all time. Some of that is just people enjoy being iconclast and of course recency bias but jeez, Norwegian Wood (one of my favorites back in the day) Loves you yeah, yeah, yeah. Eleanor Rigby, A day in the Life, Yellow Submarine, Hey Jude... who else has that kind of variety?

If you had to pick one song that made it into the great American songbook - even though they're British - that would be the one.
* That is, at the time it was considered an honor if he did it (well, I guess, whatever...) There was some adoring quote that when Frankie did a song it became his song but certainly not true for this one.
