Greetings from Ohiopyle PA
Visited Fallingwater for maybe the fifth time on their members day, this over maybe 40 year time span. Freezing cold, freezewarnings last night and I was just not prepared. Pulled out a cycling jacket for cooler weather, but that was not enough. Still, enjoyed it, although like a rock song that you’ve played to death I was glazing over a bit. Pay your money and take your chancesWould still like to drive through Wisconsin and maybe Oak Park, Chicago and do a Frank Lloyd Wright tour sometime maybe even this fall. Just checked in for another night, need to get over that anxiety that you have to get back home for some reason. I need to relax and realize no I don’t. Ohiopyle is a cool little hole-in-the-wall, with easy to moderate hiking trails the great Allegheny passage (GAP)Trail (great for cycling, connect up with the C&O canal trail to go from Pittsburgh to Washington DC) and also known for world class white water, kayaking, and or raft trips, fishing, etc. Got my bike with me, but haven’t ridden at all this year. Maybe tomorrow will be a lot warmer and I don’t wuss out. I had done a lot of the GAP way back when, maybe reestablish my farthest point north of here. Last day of the ramp festival across the highway. Can’t miss that! 1). Ohiopyle Falls. 2). If you don’t know me by now…🎶 ** Edited by `lag at 5/3/2026, 2:35:16 PM

We toyed with the idea of visiting Fallingwater during...
...my daughter's spring break last month. Instead, we ended up going to Emerald Isle, NC for a couple of days, but you just reignited my desire to make it to Fallingwater sometime soon.

It’s my favorite “house“ ever…
And I’m not even a house person, that goes back to my being a teenager, maybe 50 years ago, kinda like having a favorite all-time band that you may not listen to as much anymore, but they’ll always be number one. Or Raquel Welch, I don’t know. The funny thing is, I don’t think I could really live there either, but I would sure love to spend a couple days there just chilling out. Also, it would be hard to buy anything in the gift shop. How to explain that I love it, but none of it really fits my personal taste if that makes any sense, that is you’d have to throw everything out that you have and replace it with that stuff one or the other, but not both. Ohiopyle is a pretty cool area too that is if you’re in the hikey-bikes crowd. Or you could just sit on the corner there have lunch and watch all the sports bikes, cruising bikes, racing, paniered, mountain cyclist, kayaks, rafts, fisherman, hikers, dog walkers, all do their thing.
