The Great Joester Electrical Extravaganza of 2024, minor update...
Got home last night and discovered ANOTHER surge protector in the bedroom was also fried. This surge protector had a lamp and 4 charges plugged into it (one phone, one nook, and two e-collars for the dogs...no devices were plugged in at the time). One of the dog collar chargers was also fried, and had visible scorching on the prongs. All of the other chargers still work fine. No other damage anywhere else in the house. Everything working fine and no further issues during the morning rush today. At this point, I'm hoping this was a one off situation, and taking solace in the fact that everything worked like it was supposed to...the surge protectors protected, the breakers broke. Both the surge protectors were pretty old, and have been replaced with modern presumably better ones. Fingers crossed this is the end of it, but obviously any hint of any other issue I'm biting the bullet and getting a pro in... ** Edited by JoesterVT at 5/22/2024, 8:22:11 AM

Really surprising that none of your neighbors were affected

and in our house, all the damage was confined to one small area...
three outlets all within 15-20 feet of each other....

Sounds like something shorted, but don't understand why it affected
more than one circuit.
