I had a home built in 2019. Couple of thoughts.

1. Who is designing and specing out the home? 2. You need a solid contract that defines time lines, change orders, and how any costs will be divided. It should also cover how payments are expected from your construction loan. 3. It also protected me from a mechanics lien if the builder didn't pay his subs. I had zero problems with my contractor, but that's because we did the above. Good luck. There are too many shady contractors out there. ** Edited by MCL3 Hokie at 8/22/2023, 8:54:55 AM

Typically banks don't finance lots, so you have to pay cash for the land.
