Saw an article on some state that was dropping college degree requirements.

for some jobs. I think that's a start, we've created this artificial gatekeeping by requiring college degrees for every job even when only reading and writing and 'rithmatic are needed. That also puts those gatekeepers in a position of power. Not admiring the logic of the cited studies, college degrees make more money than high school diplomas? well, of course, but that might be one of those correlation is not necessarily causation things, kids who can afford college might be from better off educated families etc. in the first place, you're essentially paying your entrance fee to a better lifestyle: college degree as ticket... and how do they address the whole student loan debt thing? that sure seems like a case of getting that degree making things worse off than just a high school diploma. they can't just look at adding everyone up and making a blanket statement that degreed kids are better off, need to break it down by categories. Anyway, stuff that's been brought up before even on these boards, the college thing is broke w/declining ROI ** Edited by `lag at 5/24/2023, 3:48:43 PM

many 2 year schools are basically free if you have grades
bigbadbird 05/24/23 01:28 PM ET
This is a positive. Preeminent state schools like VT will be fine. But

Both. First OJT then Cisco and Juniper certifications.

Well, when students choose based on amenities, it's risky to

I'd bet if a school like VT dropped prices and didn't try to keep up...

Ivy's charge tuition based on what you can afford (need based tuition)

I doubt it.

Even if you can pay as you go, the ROI should be considered
