My finance prof explained the difference between Acct and Fin this way

Finance is about cash flow. In the end, cash flow is what matters to business (and individuals, for that matter). You can have all the assets, net worth, "profit," or whatever else in the world, but without good cash flow, you've got nothing. Accounting is basically for calculating your taxes...which are one of your cash flows. Probably a pretty biased take given his profession, but I've yet to find that he was wrong.
