I was surprised how well and forcefully she could sing "Coal Miner's Daughter" Autotune? I wouldn't know what to look for and I was upclose: she was clearly singing the song. One of the best/favorite music lineups I've ever seen that night, Loretta Lynn, Peter Rowan (who wrote "Panama Red" among other tunes you losers) and the reconstituted Hot Rize who formerly had been considered a bluegrass supergroup. Loretta Lynn's retinue got out of there pretty quickly, they were gone by the time Peter Rowan got on the stage but he commented "Wow, I've seen the Pope and Loretta Lynn in the same week" (The Pope had just been in Washington DC...) The quip was, of course, that, in his mind, Loretta Lynn was something equivalent - with no disrespect - to the Pope. (Surely he's seen, met her before, if not that would have been one of those moments no quip necessary) There you go, one of the greatest stories and musicians in American music.
