There have been shortages for years on some of the most basic drugs

Sodium Bicarbonate, normal saline, heparin
Sort of crazy not to mention scary.

the pandemic hasn't helped because a lot of resources were diverted to vaccine manufacture and administration. Glass vials, syringes, etc.
