yesterday's trivia

In addition to Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, Transcaucasia (meaning the other side of the Caucasus Mountains) was the fourth republic in the USSR. In 1918, Transcaucasia was split into Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The "stan" republics became republics in the 1920's and 30's. The Baltic republics were absorbed after WWII. I will give UTPr0sim credit for the correct answer as he knew everything except the name Transcaucasia.
