Christmas this year. I met him for the first time last week in Raleigh at my daughter's graduation merely a transition to two more of grad school at UNC Chapel Thrill otherwise known by the remake of the Robert Earl Keen lyric "The road goes on forever and the party never ends" and nicely done by the Highwaymen. He was a good looking kid very nice called me sir repeatedly and ordered the Morgan Street Chicken from the famous Irregardless restuarant menu. I had the Shrimp Rigatoni marinated and grilled shrimp, calabrian chiles, white wine cream, basil-pinenut pesto, cherry tomato, arugula, balsamic, parmesan. They graciously included the 20% gratuity in my bill since it was a party of eight. My wife tells if he comes you need to get him a gift because our daughter really likes him and thinks he could be the one. Apparently his dad is loaded and in the high rise commercial construction business and chipper is an Engineering student that drives around State in a shiny new Beamer. I assume dad wants him to impress and my daughter must be since she has bought this up more than once and half jokingly suggests I should get her one as well. So I am thinking what do I get this special guy and it came to me this morning on my drive to work. I will get a memory stick and make him a mix tape of my favorite songs for him and his friends to listen while they are at a social gathering further cementing his Bee's Kneesness. What better gift than something made from the heart and it is only going to take 5 minutes of my time.
