The local schools (Mont Co, Va) is suspending stu. Google accts over break

For all students K-9th grade. The student's school issued Chromebooks will become fancy bricks for the entirety of winter break. The stated purpose is to force the kids to take a screen break. As if most of them don't already have a phone or other devices at home. As a parent, I just received the email announcing the decision. It doesn't really apply in my house, as my youngest is in the 10th grade. This just seems very weird to me for some reason. The Chromebooks are already pretty heavily filtered, as I understand it. Just strikes me as preachy and a bit of an overreach from the division. Thoughts?

Could it be a money saving move? No subscription fee for 3 weeks

Money saving but probably more in line with less use means less maintenance

I don't think newborns should attend school until after they turn 21. Then,
