Anyone here awesome at pond maintenance? Have a 1/3 acre pond that gets
killed by algae every spring-summer. I see that dastardly stuff starting to show its face now and I'm trying to get ahead of it. The pond is surrounded by trees, so it gets loaded with leaves every fall. It's about 12ft deep and I don't know how much maintenance was done before we bought. There is a fountain somewhere in the center, I need to row out and see if I can find it. At some point (before we bought) someone unplugged the fountain and threw the cord into the water. Once I find the fountain I'll feel around for the cord and pull it out. I know movement will help, but what else can I do here? Within a couple months this thing will look like a putting green.

Don't know why it works but a few bales of barley straw should do the trick**

Your pond is probably too shallow where you have the algae blooms. A
