Pretty sure I need a riding mower...whatcha got?
Bought a house last winter with the biggest yard I've ever had (about an acre, compared to the 1/4 to 1/3 acre yards I've had before). I've always just had a pushmower. Between the size of the yard and me not getting younger, mowing really does suck at the new house.
Figured I had a couple more years before I had to worry about it since we've got a teenager in the house who doesn't mind mowing the lawn. But his schedule has gotten so full, he never has time. So the job is probably going to fall to me, or hire a lawn service. I expect a service would run somewhere in the $50-100 a pop neighborhood, so even an expensive mower would be paid for in just a few years.
From reading reviews, it looks like the consensus top candidates are:
John Deere S130 $2900
Toro Timecutter (Zero Turn) $3300
EGO Z6 (Zero Turn) $6000
I gotta admit, the idea of a battery-powered riding mower is kinda appealing just to not have to deal with gas or maintenance or winterizing. But that's one heck of a price tag.
If you were buying a lawnmower today, which way would you lean?
