What happens in Vegas…

Stays in Vegas. At least for another year. In town for work and did a drive by of the GP viewing stands / massive structure. Spoke with a security guard at one of the gates. This is a huge land space with permanent? concrete structures just east of the LV strip. Additionally, the track was laid out to create big, concrete overpasses on roads like the iconic Flamingo road, etc. where the racers raced down the streets. And that overpass? Crap- it’s so steep I didn’t even realize what the hell it was when I first saw it, driving at maybe 30 mph? Can’t imagine going at race speeds. Airborne! Right now, they are literally removing the massive overpass on Flamingo because it was installed just for the race?? That’s what this security guard was saying. No other races planned over the year- it was used only once. Flamingo- a major E/W road, is closed down overnight, from 9 am to 6 am every night, while they are destroying the overpass. It’s crazy- bat sh*t Las Vegas crazy. But that’s not the craziest part. The circus comes back to town NEXT November. So, I guess they’re going to lay down a new track and eff up the city streets again in 9 months. Maybe this isn’t accurate. I don’t live here and I don’t have time to confirm. But I cannot imagine a city that disrupts the lives of so many that live here, in order to put on a 1x a year entertainment event that disrupts the city significantly. And the overall viewing stands and massive site? Well I guess it was just a crappy, empty lot over the last at least 5 years before the circus arrived (well, the 2023 circus, that is. Not to be confused with all of the other LV circuses. Or even Circus Circus.) 🤡 🤡 🤡 🤡 🤡 🤡 🤡 🤡 🤡 The guard’s answer? It’s all about the Benjamins. And apparently, a lot of them. Wow. Maybe someone else has more legitimate info. But everything he said, while insane, is definitely plausible. ** Edited by reconhokie at 1/23/2024, 1:51:29 PM

The strip workers HATE it. Inconvenience, time consuming, and a major $ hit
