Population of Blacksburg
This summer has been unusually dead in town. Have heard one reason is VT giving many SS classes online only, presumably to save $$. But this week town is going through its annual morph. Often the question arises what is the true population in town, less VT students. The 2020 census says about 45k, but how many of these are students? VT says enrollment is 37k+ on and off campus, 80/20 undergrad/grad. Wikipedia, citing the census, says that in Blacksburg 57.4% of the population is 18-24. But the national number is only 9.4% for this age group. So a good guess as to how many students are included in the 45k is about 21,500. Suggesting the population of true "townies" is under 25k. I wonder how many college towns across the country have this level of population imbalance.

Does that 37K student count include all the campuses in Northern Virginia?
