We have the same issue but it was due to the first owner deciding to

make the two car garage into a family room as the house was being built. They never sized up the unit for an additional 400 square feet of space but simply added an additional return and put in more vents. So when it gets hot like this, it can maintain 74 but can’t go any lower until the evening. At night we can get it down to 68 no problem. The builder was an idiot and did a lot of real head scratchers, things you discover years later as we are the 3rd owners.
