Fair question. If not mistaken, it’s a labeling slight of hand

The tomatoes are broken down into their individual constituents, then combined in very specific ratios. Once you start sourcing the raw ingredients, he said they weren’t always sure it was a tomato as the source. I was a skin care product manager at the time and was discussing with him our strategies for the ingredient listing on a label when he told me this story. Cosmetics are regulated but there is also room for creative license. Some of our competitors had taken it to unethical extremes and put us in competitive disadvantages. Our customer base was nurses and we were surprised they could be duped so effectively, but then again, why would they have that knowledge? We ended up selling our line to the worst competitor who eventually discontinued our products.
